Dear First Presbyterian Church Family:
I hope y’all are having a great summer! Worship in the Park last week was wonderful.
Thank you to the Celebrate band for their gifted leadership. And thanks to everyone who came and also shared in the potluck afterwards.
My sermon on Sunday at our 10am service will be on the band U2 and their song called “40” that is based on Psalm 40.
I’m writing to invite you to a “Forum” on Sunday in the Fellowship Hall at 9:15am.
In preparation for the sermon, come watch a video of the lead singer of U2, Bono, in an interview with
Presbyterian Biblical Scholar Eugene Peterson. They discuss the Psalms, biblical interpretation, music and the arts.
The video runs about 22 minutes. Then we will have a short discussion and head into worship at 10am.
The rest of the summer, I am preaching a Summer Sermon Series on Songs from popular culture.
Below is a tentative outline of the Summer Sermon Series.
