Founded in 1950, the First Presbyterian Church-Hastings Library offers more than 5,000 volumes of print materials, several magazine subscriptions and numerous videotapes.
Print materials inclue major holdings in religion and theology, as well as collections of fiction, biography, large print and juvenile titles.
The library subscribes to denominational and religious magazines, including Christian Centrury, Horizons Magazine, Presbyterian Outlook, and Prebyterians Today. Back issues are kept for 2 years.
The videotape library consists of several series of children’s videos, as well as tapes used for adult education classes.
Library use is open to all church members and is on the honor system. The check-out period is for two weeks and books are always due on Sunday. Fines are not collected on overdue items; however, if you fail to return an item in a timely fashion a notice will be sent. Check-out procedures are available on the librarian’s desk.
The library is a member of the Church and Synagogue Library Association and receives a quarterly newsletter from this organization. Copies of this newsletter are available on the CSLA website.
