Greg grew up in Flagstaff, Arizona, as an active member of Federated Community Church. He graduated cum laude from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington, with a double major in Spanish and Political Science, where he also competed on the speech and debate team and served as vice president of the student government association. While at PLU, Greg met his wife, Jessica, when they both rowed on the crew team. They married in 2001 and moved to Ecuador, where Greg studied as a Rotary Scholar and earned a master’s degree at the Universidad del Azuay while Jessica taught English as a second language.
Upon returning to the U.S., Greg worked in private industry, higher education, and with a faith-based nonprofit managing water purification projects in Latin America. In 2010, he answered a call to ministry, enrolling at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary while serving as pulpit supply for a small church in Caldwell, Texas, and assisting at El Buen Pastor, a bilingual/multicultural congregation in Austin. After seminary, Greg joined the national offices of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) in Louisville, Kentucky, as the General Manager of Presbyterian World Mission. In 2015, he was called to First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta as Director of Global Mission, where he oversaw international partnerships and also served as part of the pastoral team in worship, preaching, and pastoral care.
Greg accepted the call to serve as the Senior Pastor/Head of Staff at First Presbyterian Church of Hastings in March, 2017. Since then, he has led the congregation through a season of growth, visioning, and mission, including a successful capital campaign, expanded community partnerships, and renewed engagement in worship and fellowship. He serves on the board of the Omaha Presbyterian Seminary Foundation and the Board of Trustees of Hastings College, helping foster connections between church and campus.
Greg is a frequent contributor to the Presbyterian Outlook magazine and also writes biblical commentaries for the Presbyterian Foundation and occasional Op-Ed pieces for the Hastings Tribune.
Greg and Jessica are grateful to call Hastings home, where they are raising their daughter, Esther, and are active in both church and community life. Greg is passionate about helping the congregation grow in faith, thrive in fellowship, and share Christ’s love in Hastings and around the world.
