Dear First Presbyterian Church Family:
I hope your summer has started joyfully and you are able to beat the heat this week! I want to share some exciting information about worship this Sunday, June 13.
We will start our Worship in the Park service on Sunday at 9:30am. We intend to hold this service all summer (weather permitting). This will be held in Alexander Park (on the northwest corner of 7th and Lincoln) and will be a shorter and simpler worship service that should wrap up by about 10:15am. You are encouraged to bring your own chairs; however, we will also have 24 chairs available for folks along with a few park benches for those with mobility issues. You can park in the church parking lot and walk over, or you can also park on the street in front of the park if you can’t make the walk over from the church parking lot. This service will include congregational hymn singing! The science tells us that singing outdoors is much safer. Masks are recommended for this service, but not required.
At our 10:30am service in the sanctuary, we will have a time of celebration for our very successful Vacation Bible School that was held last week. The congregation will get to meet some of the key players (including a puppet) and will learn one of the songs as they hear about what our kiddos learned during VBS. At the 10:30am service, masks are required and social distancing will be observed. We will also broadcast our 10:30am service on the radio and Facebook Live if you cannot come in person. If you want to join us on Facebook Live, click on this link: www.facebook.com/fpchastings
Here is a link to the bulletin for the 10:30am service: https://fpchastings.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Bulletin-06.13.2021-with-music.pdf
The bulletin can also be found on the Church Website https://fpchastings.org/ under the Bulletin heading.
At both services, we continue our Summer Sermon Series on Children’s Books. I will be preaching a sermon on a children’s book called “Just Ask” and Romans 12:1-8. If you want to get a jump start on the book and sermon, you can watch me and my daughter Esther read the book by clicking here: https://youtu.be/T_lb_nRIiLU
Sunday promises to be a very special day in the life of our church, and we hope you can join us in-person at the 9:30 or 10:30 service, or at home for the 10:30 service.
Have a blessed weekend and I hope to see you soon!
Your servant in Christ,
